I just wrapped up my STAR-PNT internship at IIT Tirupati Technological Innovation Hub, and boy, was it a ride! This blog is about all the shenanigans, fun, and occasional work we managed to squeeze in over the past two months. If you think internships are all about grinding and serious business, think again!
The "Work" Part
Alright, let’s get the “official” stuff out of the way first. My main task was to build an Augmented Reality (AR) Indoor Navigation app which I have completed successfully. The app is designed to guide users to predefined points using AR overlays and Unity's Navmesh for navigation. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s super cool to see it actually working! Shoutout to my teammate, Joyall, who built an amazing 3D CAD model of the Central Instrumentation Facility Building, which we imported into Unity. And thanks to our awesome project director, who is an interesting and chill person ,we got to play around with a 3D printer, designing and printing all sorts of models.
The "Fun" Part
Now, onto the fun stuff! Here’s a glimpse into our not-so-typical internship life:
Honestly, we spent a good chunk of our time just chilling and catching up on sleep. Because, why not?
PUBG, Among Us, Uno, Ludo – you name it, we played it. Our gaming sessions were fun, with a lot of hilarious moments.
You might be wondering about the title “Chalo Theek Hai Have Fun!” means, well , it's my project director’s favorite phrase. Such a cool man he is!
Some of the best memories were made during our late-night talks. We’d chat about the most random things, from life goals to conspiracy theories, till the wee hours of the morning.
At 12 PM (yep, midnight), we’d kick off a game of truth or dare. Let’s just say, things got weird, and secrets were spilled.
We didn’t shy away from getting wet in the rain. It was like reliving our childhood, splashing around and having a blast.
Whether it was a weird dance move or a full-blown dance party, we didn’t need a reason to dance. Any time was dance time!
We were also taken to cool places every now and then.At first , it was to a water tower , on top of which you could see the whole campus. It looked dashing!
Then, we had dinner at Barbeque Nation. Though it burnt a hole in our pockets , it was fun and well worth it.
Finally , after a lot of waiting , we were taken to the hot spot: SHAR Sriharikota ISRO Launch Pad.
Boy it was beautiful , the Mission Control Centre was definitely the most interesting , where we sat in those exact chairs used by all the VVIPs who come during a launch, including the hon'ble Prime Minister of India.
The People
I made friends from different walks of life, and it was the best time of my life. We sang, danced, clicked the weirdest pics, and even learned each other’s languages. Meeting so many different personalities was an enriching experience that I will always treasure.
Mess Food Adventures
Ah, the mess food. Let’s just say it was not worth paying for. Most of the time, we sneaked in without paying. We did get caught once or twice, but it was all part of the adventure. Those sneaky missions added a bit of spice to our routine!
Wrapping Up
This internship was more than just work. It was an experience filled with laughter, fun, and a bit of productive work here and there. I’ll cherish these moments forever and look forward to what’s next.
Till next time, keep chilling and keep having fun!
